Huntington Beach's baseball team won a share of the Surf League title Friday by beating Fountain Valley 4-2 at Fountain Valley High.

The Oilers (18-8, 5-2) entered Friday 0-2 versus unranked Fountain Valley, including a setback Wednesday.

I hate playing them. Huntington Beach coach Benji Medure stated Gerardo Gonzalez's squads are always prepared and tough.

Huntington Beach won 1-1 in the seventh inning. Phillip Kang singled to advance Trevor Goldenetz from a leadoff walk.

UCLA signee Aidan Espinoza, who was 0 for 3 until the seventh inning, smashed a triple over the right-field barrier to give the Oilers a 4-1 lead.

Fountain Valley pitcher Tim Grack "got me all day," Espinoza said. I hit a pitch I liked.

Nate Aceves of Huntington Beach pitched a full game with four hits, two runs, and eight strikeouts.

Medure stated his fastball had late life. “He seemed calm and had excellent control inside and out with his fastball.”

Fountain Valley (12-10, 3-4) excelled with Grack.

The senior and UC Irvine signee limited the Oilers to one run before Espinoza's home run and tied the game in the sixth with a triple.
